Have you ever heard of Kyushu? If you are familiar with Japan or Japanese culture, you might have. Kyushu is one of Japan\u2019s main islands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this blog, I will introduce where Kyushu is in Japan. Additionally, I will also introduce its hot springs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1, Where Kyushu<\/strong> is located<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kyushu is one of the four big islands of Japan, along with Hokkaido, Honshu, and Shikoku.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe you have heard of Hokkaido or Honshu, haven’t you? Hokkaido is the northern part of Japan and popular for enjoying winter sports because of its cold weather. And, Honshu has the most famous cities like Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya. It occupies 60% of Japan’s area, and 80% of Japan’s population lives on that island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Kyushu, only 10% of Japan’s population lives, and its area is almost the same as the Netherlands. It is situated in the western part of Japan and has seven prefectures: Fukuoka, Oita, Nagasaki, Saga, Kumamoto, Miyazaki, and Kagoshima. These prefectures have their own unique culture and dialects. The largest prefecture among them is Fukuoka. It is in the northern part of Kyushu. Fukuoka has the fifth largest international airport in Japan. So Fukuoka is the gateway to start your journey in Kyushu. Also, in the other prefectures, there are domestic airports, so it’s easy to hop around Kyushu!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2, What Kyushu is famous for?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u30fbHot spring<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kyushu is called the “Hot Spring Paradise<\/strong>” because of its many hot springs. Kyushu is a popular travel destination not only for foreign people but also for Japanese celebrities. But why are there so many hot springs in Kyushu?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are two reasons for this. Firstly, there is an active volcano at the center of Kyushu. It’s called Mt. Aso and is located in Kumamoto Prefecture. Secondly, there is a lot of rain in Kyushu, so it’s easy for water to accumulate underground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These factors create hot springs that are rich in minerals. Some hot springs have unique features that are good for making our skin beautiful and more. That’s why hot springs in Kyushu are popular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
